2009 Season Outlook

The Lady Bulldogs have a lot of new girls adding to the talent from last year’s team. The Dogs graduated six players including all-conference and all-region selections Jamie Nizzia and Nicki Dawdy. The Lady Dogs only return four players but are bringing in 9 very talented freshmen.

VETERAN DOGS: The returning sophomores will bring a great deal of knowledge and experience to a young and eager team this year. Lindsey Stone returns as our defensive specialist and will be competing for the libero position. She was a very solid left back defender. We are looking for her to continue to get stronger and better this off-season. Sarah Aiello is a very versatile player who helped us in many positions last year. She will continue to compete for an outside position and we hope that her never say die attitude will spread throughout the team. Katie Peters returns competing for the setter’s position. She came along way last year and continued to get better throughout the spring season. Kayla Green helped our offense as a powerful hitter with a great attitude; with the incoming freshmen, she should be able to help us in multiple positions this year.

NEW PUPS: After a very competitive yet disappointing season, the Lady Dogs are going to rely heavily on a very strong and diverse recruiting class. Not only do the incoming freshmen share talent and love for the game, they also share a competitive spirit that will get us back to our winning ways.

Andrea Beal: Libero from Lutheran High School in Springfield, Illinois – Andrea is a very solid passer and defender and will make an immediate impact in our defensive plans. She has a great attitude and ability to read the hitters. Missy Chott: Right-side Hitter from Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, Missouri – Missy is a very talented left hand hitter and will help us on the right side putting up a solid block and an aggressive attack. Samantha Kassings: Setter from Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling, IL – Samantha is a very smart setter with a never say die attitude. She will play an important role helping run our offense and hitting and blocking on the right side. Haley O’Brien: Outside hitter from Greenview High School in Greenview, IL – Haley is a very athletic player with great jumping ability. She has a great attitude and will contribute with a strong attack and a big block. Courtney Osborne: Setter from Buffalo Tri-City High School in Buffalo, IL – Courtney is a very smart and scrappy player who will help guide our offense this year with her quick thinking and the knowledge of the game. Anna Ramirez: Middle Hitter from Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield, IL – Anna comes from a strong program here in Springfield. She’s a very smart player who will help us in both the middle and the right-side positions this year. Kayleigh Skaggs: Outside hitter from Washington High School in Washington, IL – Kayleigh is a very smart and powerful hitter and will be a key part of our offense this year. With a great attitude, she should help command the floor with her aggressive attitude. Lexie Steindl: Setter from Pleasant Plains High School in Pleasant Plains, IL – Lexie is a very intelligent and quick player. Her abilities and her knowledge of the game will help quarterback our offense next year. Anna Worthy: Middle Hitter Lanphier High School in Springfield, IL – Anna is a very athletically gifted play with tremendous power. She will be able to help with her powerful swing and her aggressive attitude.
