The 2009 season is full of promise and great expectation with the return of several key players and the addition of great new talent. In goal will be Sam Chappell. She comes to SCI fresh off a second place finish in the state tournament. Sam has great hands and gives the team great confidence with her leadership and outstanding ability. The defense will be in every game with hard nose marking and a great work ethic. Playing in the middle of the defense will be returning starters Tara Proctor and Laura Zuniga. Each of these players possesses the speed, desire, and skill to mark out the top players that we face. Receiving playing time on the outside wingbacks will be Ashley Johnson, Rachel Langfelder, and
Dee Penwell. These players read the game very well and can push up to support the attack.

The Lady Bulldogs will play a possession style of soccer and they have the skills and speed to support it. Returning starter Kaylie Henson will
be our center midfielder. She brings a hard shot and outstanding dribbling and passing skills. We look to her to light up the scoreboard! The wing midfielder will be filled with the speedy Katie Harpring and Lydia Holdman. Each of these players can serve the ball, have great speed and stamina, and are great team leaders. Look for great skills from this core of players.

Scoring from the striker position should not be a problem, as it will come from a group of four players. Amber Leonard-Green, Cassie Gronau, Brittany Gvazdinskas, and Sam Bartolozzi will give us speed, determination, and the will to finish. Amber is a speedy striker who likes to take players on one versus ones. She has a great shot with either foot and will be relied upon to finish often. Cassie Gronau is a versatile player who will start up top but will also play midfielder or defense. Cassie has a great desire to track down any ball played to her and can finish or dish off to a teammate. Brittany Gvazdinskas and Sam Bartolozzi will fill the other spot. Each of these players can cross the ball or finish when given the chance and have shown great improvement throughout the season.
Overall, with great team speed, a solid defense, scoring ability and outstanding team chemistry this should be a great year for the Lady Bulldogs.

We appreciate all the support given to us by friends, family, and alumni of SCI/BU. We look to have great success on the field, in school, and in the community.
